Hair Transplant or Hair Implant
Men and Women have been battling baldness for decades. Partial or complete hair loss is a common occurrence that affects 50% of men past the age of 50; 30% between the ages of 40 and 50 and 20% under the ripe age of 40 years old.
Individuals suffering from hair loss have usually exhausted every means available to them, beginning with shampoos and lotions and ending in drastic medical procedures, in order to reverse the hands of time and regain their youthful head of hair. It needn’t be said that all their efforts produced little, or no results. Nonetheless, there exists one, long lasing solution; hair transplant or hair implant.
Two techniques are available at Belallure Lebanon to help combat this problem: Micro-Grafting and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
Principle: Using local anesthesia, a fine scalp strip is taken from the occipital zone or nape area (refers to the section of the head from the occipital bone to the bottom of the hairline of the neck on each side behind the ear). The scalp strip is then fractioned into micro-grafts of 1 to 5 hairs.
Advantages: The advantage of the Micro-Grafting technique is that it allows our professionals to graft a large number of hairs (ranging from 2000-8000 follicles) in two, to four hours. This means the technique can cover a large problem area in only one session, keeping in mind that if the person is completely bald, a second session will be necessary.
Disadvantages: After the micro-grafting, a negligible scar is made on the scalp, but may be noticeable when the hair is cut short.
2- Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Principle: Also utilizing minor local anesthesia, this technique consists of taking single follicular units using a circular scalpel that is measured at less than 1 millimeter. The follicles are then placed in an implanter that implants them directly into the balding area. A maximum of 2000 hair follicles can be implanted in a single session. This technique requires an immeasurable amount of precision, along with the qualifications of one of our experienced practitioners.
Advantages: The FUE leaves microscopic scars that are barely visible. The Follicular Unit Extraction procedure is painless and the micro-grafts are perfectly integrated into the receiver zone. 50 hair follicles/cm2 can be implanted in a balding area, giving you a completely natural look. The FUE also limits hair follicle loss, pre and post surgery. This hair transplant procedure does not require any pre or post surgical tests from the patient.
Disadvantages: The number of hairs that can be transplanted in a FUE procedure per session is less than that achieved with micro-grafting.
